Malware Spreading On Twitter And Instagram

Posted By: ZiLe Ohai - 2:06:00 PM

There's a bad website app spreading itself on Twitter via DMs. You receive a direct message from one of your followers saying:

My Friends:) this site Show :) WHO visited your profile :) Great Site :D with a link to a website called who-visited

Clicking on the link brings you to a nice looking website, except it's using pictures stolen from the online image library 123RF . You can see the watermarks on the pictures, that means they weren't paid for.

Authorizing the App gives you exactly what it says: showing everyone who recently viewed your Twitter or Instagram account. This is an interesting feature but...

Then it sends DMs to all your followers with the same message and link as above so that your follower may end up doing the same thing. Like a virus it spreads quickly.

Twitter is aware of the problem and usually within a few hours will remove all the direct messages to your followers.

The IP is associated with several fake sounding Twitter centric sites that may contain malware. The IP is in Paris, the registered owner gives an address in Ankara Turkey.

Looks like he created several domains this month:
